Pure Business Solutions was founded following a successful senior career spanning three decades across licensed retail, leisure and hospitality sectors including retail food and beverage, visitor attractions, multi-channel social gaming and domestic and international football.

Having held executive positions as Operations Director, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director within a number of private equity, individually owned and corporate SME, as well at FTSE 250 and FTSE 100 organisations, I wanted to utilise my skills, knowledge and experience to assist a broad range of businesses and their Teams in overcoming their performance challenges and capitalising upon their opportunities.

Chief Operating Officer
Goals Soccer Centres PLC

  • Responsibility for the strategic business development and operation of 46 UK and 3 USA small-sided soccer centres. Annualised turnover £30m ($2.5m - US) and annualised EBITDA £12m ($1m – US).
  • Creation and delivery of UK and US business transformation strategy including creation of next generation 2020 Soccer Centres. Successful deployment of £2m UK and $8m USA capital investment programme.
  • Led the transition of the Goals and City Football Group US partnership.
  • Developed and launched UK and US food and beverage and operational excellence strategies that delivered +17% year on year food & beverage sales growth, +15% year on year US total sales growth and +5% UK year on year football game count growth.
  • Created and launched grassroots soccer academy, launched digital career pathway programme and delivered service and standards transformation strategy.

National Director of Operations
Stonegate Pub Company Ltd

  • Responsibility for strategic business development and operation of 100 high-street and student licensed retail businesses. Annualised turnover of £100m and annualised EBITDA £16m.
  • Created and implemented Brand Revival Strategies for Yates and Common Room Brands.
  • Created and delivered operational excellence and efficiency strategies resulting in     +£2.9m annualised incremental EBITDA growth.
  • Led the creation and roll-out of revised food and beverage propositions including enhanced cocktail menus, craft draught and bottled beer range, fresh food menus and revitalised promotions and entertainment strategies.
  • Successful deployment of £5m brand re-definition capital investment programme.

Chief Operating Officer
The Rank Group PLC

  • Responsibility for strategic business development and operation of 95 Mecca Retail Bingo businesses. Annualised turnover of £220m and annualised EBITDA £50m.
  • Led the creation and implementation of the Brand Modernisation Strategy including the effective deployment of £28m capital expenditure creating Mecca’s Full House contemporary retail bingo brand.
  • Returned 4-year consecutive Sales and EBITDA growth and delivered +45% food and beverage sales growth during a 5-year period.
  • In partnership with Birmingham City University, led the creation of the gaming industry’s first ever Post Graduate Diploma and Masters programme in Multi-Unit Leisure Leadership and Strategy.
  • Awarded Certificate of Leadership Excellence at Cranfield University.

Managing Director Operations
Premium Bars and Restaurants PLC

  • Responsibility for strategic business development and operation of 50 premium bars, restaurants, hotels and nightclubs. Annualised turnover £45m and annualised EBITDA £7m.
  • Created and delivered an Operations and Service Excellence Strategy that transformed the culture within and performance of the organisation.
  • Returned consecutive double-digit Sales and EBITDA growth during the 2-year tenure
  • Overhauled food and beverage propositions including new food and beverage menus complemented by effective promotional strategies.

Managing Director 
Herald Inns & Bars - Hemway Group Ltd

  • Strategic business development and operation of 45 licensed retail bars, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels. Annualised turnover of £46m and annualised EBITDA £7m.
  • Created and delivered Brand Development Strategy including effective deployment of £4m capital investment and creation of new nightclub, hotel and carvery concepts.
  • Delivered +8% Like for Like Sales and +£11% Like for Like EBITDA growth.

Managing Director 
Leisure Parcs - Hemway Group Ltd

  • Strategic business development and operation of Hemway’s Blackpool Visitor Attraction business including Blackpool Tower, Winter Gardens, 3 Piers, Tussauds Waxworks, Sea-Life Centre Aquarium, Family Entertainment Centre operations and all Food and Beverage propositions. Annualised turnover of £40m and annualised EBITDA £4.5m.
  • Created and implemented Attraction Relaunch Strategies for Blackpool Tower and Tussauds including successful deployment of £6.5m capital investment funds.
  • Undertook resort restructure that delivered £1m annualised head office cost savings and created Operational and Service Excellence Strategies that returned +£6% Sales and +14% EBITDA Like for Like growth.

Group Operations Excellence Director
Yates Group PLC

  • Member of the MBO Team responsible for the strategic development, cultural development and new business integration including the delivery of group Operational and Service Excellence Strategies.
  • Responsibility for multimedia operations, food/health and safety, internal audit, service excellence procedure creation and maintenance, public relations and senior operational team personal development and effectiveness.

Business Development Director
 The Old Monk Pub Company Ltd

  • Responsibility for all new business acquisitions, existing business capital development and Old Monk / Springbok Bar brand development.
  • Successful deployment of £12m capital investment during a 2-year tenure.
  • Creation of Springbok South African-themed sports and entertainment bar Brand
